Ukraine has four nuclear power sites with a total of 15 reactors. Of these, eight are currently connected to the network, including the two at the Russian-controlled Zaporizhya power plant.

The second session of the Nuclear Security and Nonproliferation online course was conducted on 8 June. The session was led by Dr Thomas Jonter, Stockholm University professor of international relations.

With support from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, CCDS has developed an online course on nuclear security and nonproliferation issues, the first session of which was conducted on 26 May 2022 by Dr Thomas Jonter, Stockholm University professor of international relations.

Russia has made a series of threats concerning the use of nuclear weapons since the start of the war in Ukraine. On 27 February, Vladimir Putin ordered his military commanders to put Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces on high alert.
