Use of nuclear materials or nuclear by-products without lawful authority and with malicious intent represents enormouschallenge to global security.

Proliferation of nuclear technologies and materials is a major factor contributing to the increase in nuclear terrorism threats.Terrorists as non-state actors are motivated to gain access to nuclear or radioactive materials in the countries which possessnuclear technologies and nuclear military complexes as well as the countries which are on the way to developing nuclearweapons. A research paper: Rethinking nuclear and radiation risks in the wake of the Fukusima nuclear accident, was published by the Civil Council on Defence and Security, with support of Georgian National Academy of Science and Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. Authors include members of the Commission of Nuclear Energy and  Radiation Security - Giorgi Japharidze, LIa Tchelidze and Revaz Shanidze, as well as Civil Council board members and experts - Irakli Mtchedlishvili, Tamar Pataraia and Shorena Lortkiphanidze. 

An impressive series of monologue style interviews were conducted with five different women, having different ethnical, religious, professional backgrounds, showing diverse faces of women in Georgia.
