Georgia-Türkiye ties have deep historical roots, but since Georgia’s independence they have increasingly become a strategic partnership shaped by Russia’s pressure and the Black Sea’s rising importance. Today, Türkiye’s economic role in Georgia, trilateral formats with Azerbaijan and expanding military cooperation intersect with wider US–Türkiye and US-Georgia tensions over democracy and geopolitical alignment. This paper argues that a “Black Sea Triangle” linking Türkiye, Georgia and NATO/EU partners could strengthen regional security, diversify energy routes and curb Russian and Chinese leverage.
