A research paper on proton therapy has been published with support from CCDS, the Georgian National Academy of Science and the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. The paper was developed by Lia Tchelidze, Archil Tchirakadze and Giorgi Japaridze, who represent the Nuclear Energy and Radiation Security Commission at the Georgian National Academy of Science.
The paper provides an overview of proton therapy - a new, fast-developing and promising direction in the fight against cancer, which also has major social, economic and scientific implications. The use of proton therapy in various areas is being actively researched in Georgia’s newly established Kutaisi International University.
The research paper presents scientifically sound and reliable information about proton therapy as well as radiation safety and environmental protection issues related to proton therapy.
