The book “Georgia’s Nuclear Odyssey”, discusses Georgia’s Soviet nuclear legacy as well as its role in the nuclear nonproliferation regime since independence. The book seeks to widen the knowledge and understanding of the professional community about nuclear security and nuclear nonproliferation issues.
The research was conducted by the Georgia-based Civic Council for Defense and Security in partnership with the Andronikashvili Institute of Physics, Tbilisi. Peer review of the study was carried out by a researcher from the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Monterey, USA. The research was supported by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM) in the framework of a bilateral cooperation agreement signed between Georgia and Sweden. During research the team of Georgian researchers visited and explored NATO archive materials with the support of NATO's Public Disclosure Unit.
