On 7 July, members of a group of Dutch military experts - Brigadier-General Paul Hoefsloot, Dr Eric Vermetten, Ms Caecilia Van Peski and Mr Gielt Algra visited the  Tserovani Rehabilitation Center.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation of the Netherlands, together with the representatives of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, visited the Maro Makashvili Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia in Tserovani, got acquainted with the center's management, personnel, infrastructure, and selected programs for the psychological and physical rehabilitation of wounded warriors.

Later, the Dutch experts, together with the Georgian hosts, arrived in Shindisi and visited the site of this outstanding battle of the 2008 Russian-Georgian war. They, together with the Director of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, Major General Koba Kobaladze laid a wreath at the Shindisi Heroes Memorial. The delegation also visited village of Nikozi, near the occupation line, where they talked to local veterans. The guests visited the graves of the soldiers who died in Abkhazia and Samachablo in 1992-93 for the territorial integrity of Georgia in the yard of the Nikosi Cathedral and paid their respects to their memory.

Dutch delegation’s visit aims to share the experience of state and non-governmental organizations of veterans’ operating in the Netherlands and NATO countries and to discuss future plans of joint projects tailored for Georgian veterans to provide social, physical and psychological support to them and their family members. The visit will last until July 9 and is organized by the Civil Council on Defense and Security in cooperation with the Georgian State Service of Veterans’ Affairs.
