CCDS hosted workshops in Akhaltsikhe within the framework of the project “Promoting Pluralism and Media Freedom” on 3-4 August 2023. Workshop sessions, which were led by Georgian experts, brought together civil activists, students, local media and representatives of non-governmental organizations. The event showcased a collective commitment to fostering an inclusive society that embraces diversity. Akhaltsikhe, a diverse city in its own right, has a unique historical context, making it an ideal backdrop for discussions on inclusivity.

One of the highlights of the workshops was the active participation of diverse stakeholders. Media workshops focused on broader coverage of the most urgent challenges for the region and generated reflections about the importance of creating and sustaining an inclusive society. Responsible local media can help to combat stereotypes and prejudices, fostering an environment that celebrates diversity.

Furthermore, the involvement of non-governmental organizations demonstrated the commitment of the civil society sector to advocate for marginalized communities and work towards a more equitable society.

The workshops in Akhaltsikhe addressed critical topics related to diversity and inclusion, including combating discrimination, promoting gender equality, recognizing and supporting minority rights, fighting disinformation and fake news, and fostering social cohesion.

CCDS is implementing the project in partnership with the Max Plank Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
