A regional forum - Ethnic minority youth in search of peace and equality - was organized by young activists participating in the CCDS project “New Generation for Pluralism and Democracy” and representing two membership groups - “Ethnic Azerbaijanis” and “the Integration Centre of Azerbaijanis in Georgia”.

The forum aimed to give floor to ethnic Azerbaijanis to share their concerns, needs and ideas and to include them in public policy planning and agenda. Speakers from the Kvemo Kartli region spoke about the challenges facing ethnic minorities in their local communities and the ways of tackling them.

Attendees of the forum were diplomats, researchers, NGOs working on human rights and ethnic minority rights, and young activists of ethnic Georgian and Azerbaijani origin. The event was hosted by the Mirza Fatal Akhundzade Museum in Tbilisi.

The forum was held in the framework of the project New Generation for Pluralism and Democracy, which is implemented by the Civil Council on Defense and Security and Max Planck Foundation with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
