A two-day youth forum was held as part of the project New Generation for Pluralism and Democracy at the National Museum of Georgia on 24-25 November. The forum brought together young people from different regions of

Georgia who had organized small projects in their own hometowns in the framework of the same project.

Participants presented their own projects and exchanged ideas on diversity, democracy and integration. The organizers had arranged two info tours for the participants - one at the Georgian president’s residence and another - at the parliament of Georgia. At the presidential residence, the young people had an opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the palace and meet the president, Salome Zourabichvili, who demonstrated great interest in the young activists’ projects and expressed her appreciation for civil activism among the young. At the parliament, the participants were hosted by Nikoloz Samkharadze, the chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee. Mr Samkharadze spoke to the visitors about topical issues pertaining to Georgia’s foreign policy and took questions from them.

The second day of the forum kicked off with a presentation by the ambassador of Germany to Georgia – H.E. Hubert Knirsch. The ambassador spoke about main principles of free and democratic societies and explained why civil activism is important in modern states and what youth can change in politics.

The forum ended with a brief self-reflection session. The project New Generation for Pluralism is implemented by the Civil Council on Defense and Security and Max Planck Foundation, with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
