Participants of the CCDS project “Youth for Pluralism and Democracy” met Georgian Ambassador to Austria H.E. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili on 5 November. The goal was for the young people to get a better understanding of Georgian diplomacy and foreign policy-related issues.
The ambassador underlined the importance of diversity and inclusion in any society, especially in a diverse country like Georgia. Drawing on her previous experience of working on ethnic minority issues, she recalled a number of successful civil integration projects implemented in the past.
Further, the ambassador overviewed the existing dialogue formats with the Russian Federation, spoke about Georgia’s occupied territories and shared her views on increasing youth engagement in the reconciliation processes. Current relations with Austria and the EU were also discussed.
The project Youth for Pluralism and Democracy is implemented by the Civil Council on Defense and Security and Max Planck Foundation with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
