As part of a series of lectures aimed at raising awareness of Georgian journalists on nuclear nonproliferation issues, the military journalist Irakli Aladashvili delivered a lecture for a group of reporters on current challenges to nuclear nonproliferation.
Mr Aladashvili first spoke about his experience as a war reporter and an observer in several armed conflicts. After this he moved on to the main topic of the lecture and overviewed the current status of non-proliferation efforts and the challenges they face. He also shared his experience of visiting several nuclear facilities during study tours.
Mr Aladashvili also touched on other important issues, such as the past cases of illegal transfers of radioactive materials through Georgian territory and Georgia’s experience in detecting and measuring nuclear pollution.
The lecture was organized by the Civil Council on Defense and Security in the framework of the project for journalists “Everything About Nuclear and Radiation Security”, with financial support from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
