As part of a DCAF-supported project, CCDS organized a meeting of the project consultant, Dutch military expert Ms Caecilia Johanna Van Peski with Deputy Chair of the Defence and Security Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Mr Vladimer Chachibaia on 10 December.
The sides discussed topical issues, such as social policies in the defence and security sector, care services for veterans and the rights of conscripts. CCDS representatives presented a brief overview and the findings of their latest research on conscripts’ rights, which was conducted with financial support from the Netherlands Embassy to Georgia.
Ms Caecilia Van Peski shared the Netherlands’ experience of implementing social policies in the military service. She spoke about the challenges that still exist and how they are dealt with as well as the main elements of the successful practice. Ms Van Peski underlined the importance of the rehabilitation and psychological support of wounded and injured servicemen.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation in the area of research and share practical experience in the future.
