On 4 July, members of a group of Dutch military experts - Brigadier-General Paul Hoefsloot, Dr Eric Vermetten, Ms Caecilia Van Peski and Mr Gielt Algra, were received by the deputy chair of the Georgian parliament’s Defence and Security Committee, General Vladimir Chachibaia.
The parties discussed various topics, such as the legal framework regulating the issues of former military serviceman and veterans in the Netherlands and Georgia, current programmes for veterans, and future plans. General Chachibaia noted that getting acquainted with the Netherlands’ well-developed care system would be beneficial for Georgian agencies. He expressed the hope that the positive dynamic of cooperation between the respective institutions of Georgia and the Netherlands will be further strengthened in the future.
The meeting was also attended by the chief of the State Service of Veterans’ Affairs of Georgia, Koba Kobaladze, who expressed readiness to cooperate with the counterpart institutions in the Netherlands. The parties agreed to exchange similar visits in the future.
The meeting was held as part of the visit of the Netherlands' delegation of military experts to Georgia, organized by the Georgian State Service of Veterans’ Affairs and facilitated by the Civil Council on Defense and Security.
