Ukraine has four nuclear power sites with a total of 15 reactors. Of these, eight are currently connected to the network, including the two at the Russian-controlled Zaporizhya power plant. The seven other reactors are shut down for regular maintenance or held in reserve. Safety systems remain operational at the four sites, and they also continue to have off-site power available.
According to Ukraine’s nuclear power plant operator, Energoatom, the plants operating as at late June generate power sufficient for public consumption, industry operations and defence requirements.
