A workshop on parliamentary oversight of the state security service of Georgia was held on 3 November 2015 at the Georgian Parliament, Tbilisi. The workshop was organized by the  Civil Council on Defence and Security with the support of Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), the committee on defence and security of Georgian parliament.

The main goal of the workshop was to address the oversight framework for the newly established institution -  State Security Service and review the possibility of expantion of the role of the roup of trust at Georgian parliament. Wrokshop participants discussed best practices of oversighting of security institutions in  NATO member states (case of Norway) and made attempts to identify needs of key stakeholders in Georgia to strengthen oversight framework. The speakers proposed capacity development activities which can take place in 2016 with the support of the international stakeholders. The following topics were discussed during the wrokshop: intelligence oversight: best practices and expanding the role of the group of trust.
