An international conference "Tbilisi International Forum for Regional Stability: Challenges and Responses to Nuclear Security and Non-Proliferation" took place on 24-25 February 2015, at Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Tbilisi, Georgia. The Forum was organized by the CCDS in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Teh evenmt was supported financially by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, U.K. Department of Energy and Climate Change and U.S. Department of State.
The Conference brought together high level officials (country delegations and representatives of international institutions) and experts to discuss a common nuclear security and non-proliferation agenda and review issues relevant for the 2015 NPT Review Conference and the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit.
The conference addressed tnonproliferation practices and policies of Georgia and its neighbours from Black Sea region, the EU and NATO member states. The following countries participated in the event: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, U.K. and the U.S.A.
The main discussion points for the conference were:
- Current global and regional issues regarding nuclear and radiological security and proliferation threats;
- The national response: policies, legislation and institutions for tackling proliferation and security threats;
- Bilateral Cooperation: What has been achieved in cooperation with other States (both "donor" and neighboring). Infrastructure and solidarity and what remains to be done;
- International and regional cooperation: developing and improving institutions and initiative
