The seminar “Police Internal Accountability” was conducted in July 23, 2018, at the Courtyard Marriott Tbilisi Hotel. The training was organized by the Civil Council on Defense and Security in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Democratic Control of Armed forces Geneva Centre (DCAF). In the seminar participated top and middle level management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and experts of the DCAF and the Civil Council.
The seminar covered following topics: Presentations and debate on current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats related to police accountability (internal control and external oversight); Presentations and debate on principles, theories, methods and practices in strengthening accountability mechanisms of police services (with a special focus on Internal control ). The seminar was finalized with the practical exercise on strategic analysis and planning in strengthening accountability and integrity in the police (risk assessment and control activities).
