The Interagency Meeting on Capacity Building for Control Lists Update was conducted in 13 November 2019 at the Tbilisi Courtyard Marriott Hotel. The meeting was organized by the Civil Council on Defense and Security and was supported by the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program of the US Department of State. In the meeting participated representatives of the official structures of Georgia interested in Control List update, as well as scholars and academicians.
During the workshop was reviewed the best practices on control lists updates - UK/EU and International Experience and were discussed the following questions: Considerations for lists updates – what kind of resources, timelines, level-of-effort, etc.; Creating a Technical Working Group for lists’ update – who should be involved, what kind of commitment, structure, responsibilities, authority, etc.; What partners, in addition to licensing authorities could be pulled into the effort – local technical universities, NGOs, linguists, etc.; What assistance could be received from outside – EU’s Technical Experts group, other licensing authorities or experts, etc.
