CCDS organized a concluding event of the project “Promoting Pluralism and Media Freedom in Georgia” on 7-8 December in Tbilisi. During the meeting, project participants shared their reflections on diversity/inclusion and media freedom in Georgia and future perspectives in this area. The project aimed to support and strengthen civil society and media in several regions of Georgia - Kvemo Kartli, Samkhtse-Javakheti and Ajara.
Media and civil society representatives from the regions demonstrated their commitment to advocate for marginalized communities and work towards creating a more equitable society. Equipped with knowledge gained in a series of capacity-building activities, media and civil society representatives in the three regions of Georgia are now implementing their own initiatives: identifying positive diversity and inclusion stories, supporting awareness-raising among the wider public on Georgia’s cultural diversity, empowering youth and supporting media freedom by building the capacity of more media representatives.
“Promoting Pluralism and Media Freedom in Georgia” is a collaboration between the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law and the Tbilisi-based think tank Civil Council on Defense and Security. The project is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
