CCDS Joint Session with NGO-sector and the First Deputy Defence Minister David Ebralidze under the "Building Integrity Culture (BIC)" project was held on 26 May 2016 in the Courtyard Marriott, Tbilisi. The event was organized by the Civil Council on Defense and Security (CCDS) with the support of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), Ministry of Defense of Georgia.
Participatns of the sessions reviewed the outcomes of the DCAF funded research project on building integrity in defence sector in Georgia analysing different aspects of integrity building efforts undertaken in the mnistry of defence in Georgia, in particular unti-corruption measures and some institutional aspects of defence planning and resource management. The first deputy defence minister attended and made a key note speach at the session. The session provided an opportunity for the deputy minister to assess current state of affairs of the defense reforms and allow other participants to express their viosion and engage in a QA-session. The meeting has resulted in a frank discussion and revealed multiple challenges and risks facing Georgian Armed Forces (GAF) currently or will have to deal in long run to fulfil assigned missions.
